Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept

“Fresh, dynamic and cabin-focused”—that’s how Nissan describes its newest concept vehicle, the Vmotion 2.0. This pioneering sedan is the first look at the automaker’s future direction, both in terms of design and technological capability. The concept has wowed both car fans and industry professionals since its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, already earning two 2017 EyesOn Design Awards.

Labeled “an exciting new concept for tomorrow’s busy professionals,” the Vmotion 2.0 concept gives Nissan fans a lot to look forward to. The concept is an evolution of the current V-motion grille design—as seen on new Altimas and Maximas— extending it into a unique visual presence that encapsulates the spirit of mobility.

The concept sedan features a more dramatic Vmotion grille design with a 3D front emblem. The body is sculpted with Nissan’s “Emotional Geometry” design language, utilizing a unique “Silver Copper” paint color to give it more dimension and depth. Another one of its defining features is its “floating roof,” which is outlined with carbon trim with silver accents for an even more striking look.

The cabin-focused concept also features interesting interior elements, starting with outward-swinging doors and a pillarless interior. Plush leather seating and lots of legroom emphasize user comfort. On the technology front, a wider infotainment screen takes the place of most of the dials and knobs, spanning the dash to give both the driver and passenger access.

The Vmotion 2.0 also served as a practical application for the automaker’s ProPilot self-driving system, which is set for future release. This system is rumored to be quite an advancement over current driver-assist features, with the ability to take the wheel during highway cruising and heavy traffic situations.

With such an eye-catching design and cutting-edge technology, it’s no surprise the Vmotion 2.0 took home the auto show’s 2017 EyesOn Design Award for Best Concept Vehicle. It also managed to snag the award for Best Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials.

“Vmotion 2.0 offers a stunning look into the future of Nissan design,” said Mamoru Aoki, executive design director, Nissan Global Design Strategy, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “This prestigious award, earned from top design leaders from around the world, exemplifies the enormous potential of Nissan’s newest design direction. We’re honored to be here and excited to continue to show the world the limitless capability of Nissan design.”
