The domination of the Nissan Leaf continues this month, as Autoblog reports that the little EV has sold more than its two closest competitors – combined.
Looking at sales of EV cars from around the world, the Leaf has sold nearly 172,000 cars, which is more than the Toyota Prius and the Chevrolet Volt combined. This is a truly impressive number that shows the Leaf’s growing popularity among drivers the world over. Speaking at the New York Auto Show in April, Nissan head Carlos Ghosn said that he’s looking to make the Leaf an even bigger presence in the U.S. in the next year, setting a goal to sell over 50,000 models. It’s a tremendous goal to be sure, but one that industry insiders say is very doable, considering the Leaf’s already epic popularity.
Considered the top choice for drivers looking for electric cars in Albuquerque, the Leaf combines quiet luxury with spunky power and incredible fuel economy. This model year, the Leaf gets a more aggressive braking model, as well as new voice command and voice-to-text messaging on two of its trims.
