Why Is My Car Overheating?
Â
Your vehicle can last you many years if you’re properly taking care of it. When you notice that something isn’t quite right, you must schedule an appointment with Reliable Nissan’s service department. We’ll listen closely to what you’re saying isn’t quite right, and we’ll know the proper steps to take so everything can be diagnosed and repaired as needed. If you’ve noticed certain things like a hotter than normal hood or your temperature gauge outside of the normal range, let our team know. We’ll inspect:
How Your Cooling System Works
Your vehicle can only stay regulated from a temperature standpoint if your cooling system is working correctly. A problem with your cooling system can be as involved as an entire failure of your radiator. Something simple like a hole in one of your hoses can also cause overheating, but this is generally a quick fix as long as you notice there’s a problem.
Water Pump Efficiency
The amount of coolant pumped by your water pump will determine how efficiently your vehicle is being cooled. We inspect for signs of damage, wear and tear, and the need for replacement parts.
Radiator Needs
Your vehicle relies on your radiator to expel any heat that is building up throughout a drive. If you don’t have a fan rotating with ease, you can’t expect the heat to be radiated. You may also have an issue with wiring or other radiator connections.
Thermostat Valve Function
The valve inside of your thermostat must open and close as expected for the coolant to move between this area, your radiator, engine, etc. This valve can become stuck for many reasons, and it may need to be repaired or replaced if there’s an issue going on.
You may notice your engine is overheating, but, likely, you won’t be able to diagnose what’s going on with your vehicle without the help of an experienced professional. That’s where our team of certified technicians at Reliable Nissan comes in. Let us help you with your overheating engine, routine maintenance, and necessary service so that your vehicle always runs smoothly.
