Car Not Accelerating

At Reliable Nissan, we provide a variety of services to our vehicle owner family. Whenever you need routine maintenance performed, or you've noticed something isn't quite right with your automobile, we'll get you into our dealership as soon as possible to see what's going on. If you're driving on the highway or attempting to speed up on city streets and notice that you don't have the merging power that you once did, this is something you should have checked out. The following problems could be occurring.

Your Mass Air Flow Sensor or Oxygen Sensor May Be Dirty

It's typical for a sensor in your vehicle to become dirty the more that you're driving. Your mass airflow sensor and oxygen sensor monitor different air flows and fuel/air ratios to maintain proper acceleration. If either part becomes dirty, you'll notice compromised performance. We can quickly clean your mass airflow sensor, and replacement of your oxygen sensor can also be performed at Reliable Nissan.

Your Throttle Position Sensor Isn't Functioning Properly

You rely on your throttle valve to open and close when you're accelerating or maintaining speed on the road. Constant communication must occur between your throttle position sensor and your computer in order to maintain the right angle for your throttle valve. We can see if there's a problem with this process if you notice a slow acceleration response.

You Have a Dirty Fuel Filter

Keep particles and sludge out of your engine by using a clean fuel filter at all times. We recommend having your filter changed between 20,000 and 60,000 miles, depending on what your owner's manual says.

You Have a Dirty Air Filter

Your engine's air filter should last as long as 45,000 miles, but it's not unheard of to experience acceleration issues as early as 15,000 miles because of a dirty air filter. The location where you drive the most really determines the frequency of this maintenance task.

Reach out to Reliable Nissan in the Albuquerque area if you are currently experiencing issues with your acceleration rate while driving. We want our certified technicians to figure out what's going on. We can provide you with a potentially quick fix that will get your acceleration power back to where it needs to be.
