With a multitude of automobile features available in the different models that we have available at Reliable Nissan, it can be difficult to choose which model is going to be the best option for you. When it comes to safety and maintaining control of your vehicle while driving on a variety of challenging road surfaces, you may want to consider a vehicle that has an all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Not sure what these features are? Let us explain what they mean to you.
Your powertrain has the potential to power your front and rear wheels in an all-wheel drive equipped vehicle. Your vehicle senses what kind of road surface you're driving on (icy and slick versus dry), and your vehicle will either power itself using the part-time all-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive. You don't control any part of the system; the mode will be determined for you, engaging the differentials, couplings, and clutches as needed.
The SUV and truck market contains many vehicles that are equipped with four-wheel drive. The setup of this system is a bit different than all-wheel drive, as it uses a set of differentials in the front, rear, and center of the design. There are transfer cases, and couplings included to provide power to all four of the wheels when needed.
A vehicle with four-wheel drive provides torque to its wheels in full-time and part-time mode. If you're looking to have a bit of control over your vehicle in regards to traction, you can control your low and high 4WD ranges by way of a lever or switch inside of your vehicle. It's recommended that you utilize the highest traction through your low setting, and your high setting will provide a bit of traction on roads that are just partially slick.
Let us here at Reliable Nissan know if you're interested in learning more about the different features that come with an all-wheel drive automobile versus a four-wheel drive vehicle. We would be happy to provide you with as much information as you need in order to make an educated decision regarding which make and model would be the best choice for your next vehicle.
