To replace a vehicle that has received little criticism, the seventh-generation Nissan Z was unveiled in production form in 2021 for the 2023 model year. The new sports vehicle, which for the longest time was known as the Nissan 400Z, eventually adopted a more conventional "Z" appellation. It shared its basic construction with the 370Z and represented a significant advancement. The new 2023 Nissan Z is a small, affordable sports vehicle with a potent engine and unique features that make it the ideal contemporary sports car. It doesn't want to be anything more than that.
The Nissan Z
A 3.7-liter naturally aspirated V-6 engine with 332 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque propelled the preceding Nissan 370Z. The engine was excellent, but it had one significant flaw: the range didn't provide any turbocharged vehicles. Nissan, therefore, swapped the old V-6 engine out with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that is substantially more potent and efficient for the new Z sports car. The 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque that the new Nissan Z produces is an increase of 68 horsepower and 80 pound-feet over the 370Z.
The engine is a fast but smooth reaction to driver input. It also is more powerful than the engine it replaces. Additionally, Nissan claims that the new engine would contribute to a 15 percent increase in 0 to 60 mph acceleration. The new Z should therefore have a sprint time of about 4.4 seconds if we assume that the 370Z accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The MotorTrend team evaluated the new 2023 Nissan Z and recorded a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 4.3 seconds as evidence that Nissan is correct.
The Nissan Z is available with a standard six-speed manual transmission, which is not the case with many sports cars now on the market. The Z sports vehicle boasts an EXEDy high-performance clutch that enables quick and painless gear changes with a manual transmission. The Z Performance vehicles with manual transmissions also have a sophisticated launch assist control system, which is a first for an RWD Nissan vehicle. It modifies the throttle and traction settings of the vehicle to reduce wheel spin for more fluid acceleration from a stop. A nine-speed automatic transmission that offers direct and quick reaction and swift acceleration is an option for the new Nissan sports car.
