Nissan is saying goodbye to the Pathfinder Hybrid for the 2016 model year. A fun and spunky hybrid SUV, the Pathfinder Hybrid is being dropped to allow more focus on the gas-powered Pathfinder model that enjoys an immense popularity with SUV shoppers around Albuquerque.
"The Pathfinder Hybrid is not available in the US for the 2016 model year. Our emphasis is on the 3.5-liter V6 Pathfinder that achieves a best-in-class 20-city and 27-highway fuel economy," Nissan North America product communications director Dan Bedore confirmed to Autoblog.
It’s not uncommon for automaker’s to add and drop models from their lists year to year, with some discontinued models making their way back onto lineups after a few years. This decision by Nissan means this year will be the last chance for SUV shoppers to take home the Pathfinder Hybrid for the foreseeable future.
Nissan has always had a top spot among hybrid and electric automakers – the Nissan Leaf has been the bestselling electric car in the world for a few years now. Both the Pathfinder and its hybrid model have enjoyed similar popularity, thanks to their great fuel efficiency, as well as their powerful engines and luxurious interiors.
