Volvo Engine Not Working

If your Nissan suddenly doesn't start one day, the cause may be attributed to a few different issues. The problem may start gradually, such as a battery that slowly dies or die suddenly if a component breaks. Before bringing your car to a dealership for service, you can check a few parts on your own and look for some clues to figure out what might be wrong.

Out of Gas

If you see a low fuel warning light on your car's dashboard, or if your car has a "distance to empty" indicator that has hit the zero mark, you will know that your car has run out of fuel, and you'll need to call for a fuel refill. Keep in mind that the gas tank itself can break, such as if the fuel gauge is not working and erroneously indicates that the tank is full or empty.

Battery Problems

The battery in your car has a finite lifespan. If your vehicle has reached the 60,000-mile mark, or if you know that the battery hasn't been replaced in a couple of years, you can suspect the battery as a likely reason for your car not starting. The battery's power level is easy to check at home. You can also try using jumper cables to start the car. If that works, an ailing battery is your likely issue. The battery's wires can also become corroded or damaged by water, which also causes battery failure.

Faulty Ignition

The ignition system in your car includes a coil that signals the engine to start by creating a spark. This happens when you turn the key in the ignition or press the button on your key fob. The coils can break in the ignition, which means the system can't deliver the spark to the engine. The key fob's internal computer can also stop working, which means it's time for a new part.

Broken Starter

The starter is an electric component that can easily break with age. If the battery is running fine, but the engine won't start when you turn the key, the starter may be the problem. A broken starter will also make clicking sounds if it fails.

Engine Filter

The engine contains a fuel filter that purifies gasoline going into the fuel lines and mechanical system. The filter can get clogged with debris, which keeps it from filtering air and fuel as needed. If the filter fails to keep contaminants out of the fuel lines, the car's performance might suffer, and it might not start.
