What's New For the 2019 Nissan Maxima

Now at the latter half of its eighth generation of production, the Maxima-Nissan's longtime sports-oriented four-door sedan-is majorly updated for the 2019 model year. It now sports the more chiseled front and rear ends found on its siblings, the Nissan Altima sedan and Nissan Rogue compact SUV. Also new for 2019 is a driver-assistance safety technology bundle dubbed Safety Shield 360. Added on the higher-level trims, Safety Shield 360 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, high-beam assist blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, intelligent lane intervention, and automatic reverse braking.

Which Trims and Features are Available on the 2019 Nissan Maxima?

A five-seater with 14.3 cubic feet of cargo volume, the 2019 Nissan Maxima is split into five trims: S, SV, SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve. At the base level, which is the S trim, you are guaranteed features such as LED headlights, front seating with an 8-way power driver seat and 4-way power front passenger seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a smart key system with push-button engine ignition, remote engine start with intelligent climate control, eight-speaker audio, AM/FM radio, a single-disc CD player with MP3 and WMA playback capability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone-based control, a screen to reduce distraction when driving (Advanced Drive-Assist Display), a display commander, Bluetooth wireless technology, hands-free text messaging ability, two USB ports and an auxiliary audio jack, and NissanConnect infotainment integration with an 8-inch touchscreen

Upgrading to the SV introduces power lumbar support on the driver's seat, front-seat heating capability, leather upholstery, intelligent cruise control, a door-to-door navigation system, and HD Radio. On the SL, Nissan adds a powerlifter on the front passenger seat, heating on the steering wheel, active noise cancellation technology, a universal transceiver for remote-controlling home features like garage doors and security systems, two additional USB ports, and an 11-speaker Bose system (in place of the eight-speaker). The Platinum trim level comes with driver-seat memory system and manual thigh support extension, cooling capability added on the front seats, diamond-quilted leather inserts on the seats, and complimentary three-month trial access to Sirius XM Radio, Traffic, and Travel Link. Only the Platinum Reserve has heated rear seats. Because of the standard moonroof, the Platinum trims provide a passenger volume of 96.4 cubic feet, which is smaller than the 98.5 cubic feet supplied on the other variants.

The Nissan Maxima has Robust Power for Stellar Performance

2019 Nissan Maxima Exterior FrontThe 2019 Nissan Maxima is powered by a 3.5-liter V6, which provides an output of 300 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque. It is glued to a continuously variable transmission, which eschews the gear shifting mechanism on traditional transmissions for a smoother and more fuel-efficient (20/30 mpg) driving experience.

What are the Safety Features for 2019?

2019 Nissan Maxima Exterior RearFor restraint and cushioning in the event of a crash, the 2019 Nissan Maxima comes with dual front impact airbags, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, a pair of front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags.
