Nissan is partnering with architecture firm Foster + Partners in their latest venture. The partnership has been dedicated to Nissan’s dream for the “future of mobility” by designing all-new fuel stations for hybrid and electric cars.
This “fuel station of the future” is, according to the automaker, essential in a future with electric and hybrid cars. Such infrastructure will help ensure the success of such programs that look to decrease the number of gas-powered cars on the road.
"Technology holds many of the answers for the challenges we face in our cities today," said Paul Willcox, chairman, Nissan Europe. "However, the true power comes when those technologies are integrated with each other and the world around us. We've been at the forefront of zero emission technology since 2010, but our vision does not stop there. We believe that the future of transportation is reliant on both infrastructure and the environment. We're looking for real, workable solutions that go beyond the product."
This is all part of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility program that looks to integrate autonomous driving, wireless charging, battery storage, etc. to help figure out the best way to use energy and distribute it around the globe.
Right now the program is strictly looking at European cities, but hopefully Nissan will expand its approach once it has a concrete plan on how to implement it. To see Nissan’s full vision for the future of mobility, watch the video above.
