The city of Albuquerque has plenty to offer, and during the month of May, film and art reign supreme. If you're looking for a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy, be sure to catch Movies in the Park: Man of Steel for a fun night under the stars or watch a stunning performance of the hit musical Les Misérables at the Albuquerque Little Theater. However, if you're interested in doing something a little less kid-friendly, see a screening of "Murders in the Rue Morgue" at the KiMo Theatre for a night of horror and monsters. Movies in the Park: Man of Steel

Bring out the entire family to enjoy a movie in the park on Sunday, May 18, at Roadrunner Little League. The film of the night will be 2013 blockbuster "Man of Steel," so be sure to wear your flashiest Superman gear if you have some! All guests are permitted to bring blankets, lawn chairs, food and drinks to this event. However, no alcohol or glass is allowed. The movie begins at dusk, so be sure to get there early and find a great spot for you and your family.

Friday Fright Night at the KiMo: Murders in the Rue Morgue

Date: May 23

Location: KiMo Theatre - 423 Central Ave. N.W.

Time: 8 p.m.

Admission: $5-$27

If you enjoy horror, monsters and all things that go bump in the night, then Friday Fright Night at the KiMo is just the event for you! On May 23, the theatre will be showing an exclusive screening of "Murders in the Rue Morgue," a 1932 classic film based off of the famous Edgar Allen Poe short story, and all are welcome to attend. The movie follows the story of a mad doctor who abducts women and injects them with ape blood to prove there's a relationship between man and ape. However, all his subjects keep dying, and when he finds a fresh, new victim, the woman's boyfriend is forced to work with the police and do everything he can to get her back. Directed by Robert Florey, the film stars Bela Lugosi, Leon Ames and Sidney Fox.

Performance: Les Misérables

Date: May 23 - June 15

Location: Albuquerque Little Theater - 224 San Pasquale Ave. S.W.

Time: Friday-Saturday 7:30 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.

Based off of the 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo, "Les Misérables" is one of the world's most popular musicals about Jean Valjean, a man who's released from prison in 19th century France after unjustly serving 19 years, and breaks his parole in an attempt to start a new life. Throughout the musical, he experience cruelty during his journey and is chased by police inspector Javert, who does not believe Valjean has plans to leave his life of crime in the past. A must-see for all, this performance will be running from May 23 through June 15, so get your tickets now!
