The quirky, asymmetric Nissan Cube has graced the U.S. automotive market for five solid years, but come 2015, the subcompact will be eliminated from Nissan's lineup. Sources close to the company have confirmed the news, stating that an official announcement about that exclusion of the Cube is expected to arrive within a few months, but have not provided further information about the effect it will have on current models. Nissan Canada was the first to discontinue the Cube last May, making the recent revelation a predictable outcome that many saw coming.
No word has been given as to why Nissan is planning to nix the Cube from its roster, but with other standout compact models, such as the Versa, Leaf and Sentra, the automaker has plenty of alternatives to offer that will fulfill the needs of Cube buyers. As of now, Nissan isn't spilling the beans about the Cube's demise, refusing to verify any information, and have only stated that they "haven't made an announcement about future model plans." However, the chances of the subcompact returning are incredibly slim, which just leaves us waiting for an official announcement from the Japanese brand.
